About Me
I’ve always had a love of making and my need to create art in varying forms has remained strong throughout my life. I have met wonderful people along my journey who have inspired me, shared their wisdom and taught me an abundance of skills for which I’m grateful for.
I am a Maker, an Artist of various sorts and when I make something, it takes time, it creates a gentle calm in my soul, it fills me with contentment and joy and I can only hope that the person receiving the gift feels something positive also.
My Story
Throughout my life, creativity has been a necessity and an important part of who I am. I have always had a love of making in varying forms from making art and sewing clothes and quilts for my children when they were small and it always felt special being able to make something with your own hands and share with those you love. Even more magical was their sense of surprise and delight when they opened the gift and this is where my business idea started brewing and I decided to take a leap of faith and learn the skills needed to get where I wanted to be.
And so began Be Gentle Be Fierce!
I make small batch, bespoke childrenswear, womenswear and homewares and my love of drawing feeds into my designs and some of the woodblocks that I use for printing fabrics. My garments are created for simplicity and give the wearer a sense of freedom and comfort and although these are not garments that follow fashion, they are in themselves timeless pieces made using natural fabrics that allow the skin to breathe.
